Fresh fish

Because Aomori Prefecture is surrounded by sea on three sides, the Pacific Ocean, the Sea of Japan and the Tsugaru Straits, the marine products industry has long been flourishing and there is a wide variety and abundance of fish species.
In particular, an area along the Pacific Ocean around the port of Hachinohe is known for its big fish catches and serves as the base for inshore and deep-sea fisheries.

Processed marine products
There are also abundant marine products that are suitable for processing like flying squids, scallops, salmon and Alaskan pollack. In particular, the yield of scallops is the second largest in Japan next to Hokkaido. Frozen codfish, fish body block, and a variety of delicacies have also been increasing and they now constitute an important position in the industry of Aomori Prefecture.
