The Cape of Oma is located at the northernmost
extreme of all the capes in Japan. On a clear
day, Hokkaido is visible on the opposite
bank. Strong winds stir nostalgia in this
remote land. |

Rough and strangely shaped rocks extend out
for about two kilometers. Whitish, green
turf eroded by wind, rain and raging waves
over many years has spread outwards, creating
a mysterious atmosphere.

| Cape of Shiriya and Kandachime |
|
|
The Cape of Shiriya is located in the northeastern
most extreme part of Honshu and has the brightest
lighthouse in Japan. The simple appearance
of Kandachime and its robust lifestyle in
a vast meadow are impressive.

The beautiful Yagen mountainous stream extends
for about four kilometers. Japanese cypress,
beech trees and maple trees lend a glow to
the autumn colors.

Yagen Spa is a serene hot spring resort with
abundant nature at the foot of Mt. Osore
on the north side of the mountain "Kappanoyu"
and "Meoto- Kappanoyu" in Okuyagen
are open-air baths where bathers can feel
a sense of the seasons through the pores
of their skin.

The summit of Mt. Kamafuse offers the best
360 degrees panorama. From there one can
command a view of the Bay of Mutsu and the
mountains in Hakkoda on the south side, and
Hokkaido beyond the Strait of Tsugaru on
the north side. The night view, which resembles
the shape of a swallowtail butterfly with
its wings spreading, is unparalleled in its
grandeur.

| A fire lit on a boat to lure fish |
|
|
Around sunset, a fire is lit on boats to
lure fish. It is a fantastic scene where
the flickering fire is reflected in the water.

| Mt. Osore and Usoriyama Lake |
|
|
Mt. Osore is one of the three largest sacred
places in Japan. With the odor of sulfur
spreading over desolate rocks, tall, narrow
wooden tablets standing behind graves, the
statues of the guardian deities of children
and windmills create an illusory atmosphere.

Psychic media call up the sprits of the dead
and visitors listen to messages from the
dead.

played on traditional Japanese instruments.

resort overlooking the Straits of Tsugaru.
There are public bathhouses and it is enjoyable
to make a casual tour of the bathhouses.
