 Hirosaki cherry blossom festival |

 The Hirosaki cherry blossom festival is the
biggest cherry blossom festival in Japan
and 5,000 cherry blossoms come out in bloom,
including Yoshino cherry trees, weeping cherry
trees and double flowering cherry trees.
Along the streets, the faint scent of cherry
blossoms lingers in the air as they bloom
in all their glory. At night, the illuminated
castle tower, the cherry blossoms and the
flickering reflection of the cherry blossoms
on the water of the moat present a fantastic
view.

|
|
"Kanchogai-dori (Koma Highway)"
has been selected as one of the "one
hundred famous roads in Japan" and its
cherry blossoms stand out impressively against
the pine trees. In particular, cherry blossoms
look beautiful at night and their fantastic
beauty can be fully enjoyed then From May
3 to May 5, the Taiso festival is held at
the Mound of Taiso in commemoration of the
waterworks of the manmade Inaoi River.

| Kanagi cherry blossom festival |

Ashino Park is famous for its cherry blossoms
and has been selected as one of the "one
hundred noted places for cherry blossoms
in Japan.h Pale pink cherry blossoms cascading
down over the surface of Lake Ashino and
the suspension bridge make the place all
the more attractive. When the nearly 2,200
cherry trees are in blossom, the park is
crowded with several hundred thousand people
who visit to enjoy the cherry blossoms. There
are various events such as the Tsugaru Shamisen
All-Japan Kanagi Contest, a horse power contest
and a fireworks display.

| The longest road lined with cherry trees
in the world and Sakurabayashi Park |
|
|
The construction of this road lined with
cherry trees started in 1985. The species
of cherry tree used is the "Oyamazakura"
and the road 20 kilometers in total length
is lined with 6,700 cherry trees. Around
the middle of May, passersby enjoy the vivid
pink cherry blossoms that stand out against
the green trees. Sakurabayashi Park is on
the way to Hyakuzawa The park is famous for
its cherry blossoms that spread over the
highlands at the foot of mountains carpeted
in fresh grass.
