Colored leaves at the foot of Mt. Iwaki |
|
At the end of September, the summit of Mt.
Iwaki first changes color and then the autumn
foliage gradually spreads downward. When
the first snow of the year hits the summit,
one will be deeply moved by the scarlet-tinged
leaves that contrast sharply with the white
snow and the old green pine trees.

Mt. Nakano |
|
|
Mt. Nakano has been popular as a scenic spot
for maple trees since 1803 when the feudal
lord of the Hirosaki feudal domain, Tsugaru
Yasuchikako ordered more than 100 young maple
trees from Kyoto and replanted them on the
mountain. In the forest, the Nakano Shrine
and the sites of Fudokan Castle can be found.
Visitors are fascinated by the whole mountain
ablaze with autumn leaves and in sharp contrast
to the falls and the mountain stream. These
beauties have been long admired.
