Mt. Nakano has been popular as a scenic spot for maple trees since 1803 when the feudal lord of the Hirosaki feudal domain, Tsugaru Yasuchikako ordered more than 100 young maple trees from Kyoto and replanted them on the mountain. In the forest, the Nakano Shrine and the sites of Fudokan Castle can be found.
